School Completion Programme
Deeside School Completion Programme (SCP)
What is School Completion Programme (SCP)?
Deeside SCP is a national programme which aims to prevent early school leaving by encouraging and supporting students to stay in school. Deeside SCP works in collaboration with young people to help them reach their full potential in school.
The aim of SCP is to increase the numbers of young people staying in primary and second level education and in doing so improve the numbers of pupils who successfully complete the Senior Cycle, or its equivalent.
In Scoil Uí Mhuirí, Deeside SCP focuses on targeting and providing supports to young people which includes:
- Identifying and supporting children at risk of not reaching their potential in the educational system because of poor attendance, participation and retention.
- Ensuring that schools have in place the appropriate procedures to monitor, identify and respond to attendance, participation and retention issues.
Niamh Grimes is our SCP Project Worker on-site here in Scoil Uí Mhuirí. Niamh is here to provide support and encouragement to our students to reach their full potential in an education setting. Deeside SCP Co-Ordinator is Andrea Duffy who is based off-site.
