Care Team
Scoil Uí Mhuirí Care Team
The Care Team structure forms an important and integral part of our Pastoral Care approach to the students in our care.
There are currently two Care Teams, the Junior Care Team (serving First, Second- & Third-Year students) and the Senior Care Team (serving TY, Fifth- & Sixth-Year students). Each Care team meet once each week, with a focus on action-based interventions.
The Care Teams are made up of the following personnel:
- Principal
- Deputy Principal
- Relevant Year Heads
- Home School Community Liaison teacher
- School Completion Project Worker
- Learning Support & Resource Coordinator
Types of issues / concerns that may arise:
- Bullying
- Conflict
- Family situations / difficulties
- Personal issues / difficulties
- Stress / Anxiety
- Absenteeism
- Academic concerns
- Difficulties with subject levels, study & organisation, classroom issues
- Conflicts with teachers
- The above list is not exhaustive, and a variety of issues may arise that may require the support or intervention of the Care Team.
Examples of Supports & Interventions
- Referral to in-school supports (formal & informal)
- Referral to outside agencies where appropriate
- Communication with parent(s) / guardian(s)
- Communication with teachers / members of staff
- The Care Team will decide upon specific actions / supports that are recorded and reported on at the subsequent meeting
- Following interventions, the situation / issue is reviewed and any need for further actions is discussed and decisions are made.
The above list is not exhaustive, and a variety of strategies and interventions may be employed as deemed appropriate by the Care Team with the needs of the student(s) put to the forefront in a sensitive manner.
The Care Teams operate within the spirit of confidentiality and any information sharing is done on a need to know basis with discretion both expected and assured.
