Scoil Uí Mhuirí, Dunleer has had a tremendous year in 2022/23. Not only are our numbers fast increasing; not only have we had a second Deputy Principal appointed; not only are we continuing to enjoy our new state-of-the-art facility – but we have had an unprecedented year of success in our Leaving Cert results. The Principal and Staff couldn’t be prouder of the 2023 candidates who went through significant challenges during those difficult years and really triumphed when the rubber hit the road in June.
It is even more gratifying as these students had not sat a state exam before – and yet their results were among the finest in the history of the school. A very high percentage of students gained over 500 points and are destined to go to top-end third-level institutions to follow whatever path they choose. The vast majority of subjects in the school received H1s – which is a testament not only to the students but also to the ambition and hard work of the dedicated teaching staff at Dunleer. In many subjects, they were in line or went way above the national average in their grade achievement. Truly a set of results to be proud of.
A measure of the success is also seen in those students who were not so academically strong. The results there were also exemplary and that, in itself, shows the commitment and focus shown by both teachers and pupils in the school. Scoil Uí Mhuirí is looking forward to another excellent year coming – building on the good news that continues to come from Dunleer. Well done all.
